Range of experience
Mainland consultants all have financial qualifications and backgrounds, stretching back more than 20 years. Our consultants have come from journalism, insurance broking, accountancy, research, asset management, marketing and intermediary backgrounds. Most importantly, we have long experience of corporate communications and reputation management.
Promotional campaigns
We help our clients explain their businesses and promote their strengths. Much of our work centres on correctly positioning our clients in the media. To do this we spend a lot of time behind the scenes developing focused, powerful messages and campaign ideas that tell our clients’ story to best effect. Once we have done that, these messages will also have applications in a range of other business contexts, from internal communications to marketing support.
Defensive strategies
If our clients do run into problems and face criticism, we work alongside them to explain themselves concisely and effectively. Whatever the situation, we want our clients to be in a position to put forward their best case, as effectively as possible.
Specific media expertise
We spend much of our time talking to journalists. We know them well and we understand their needs. We can summarise complex information in a way that is relevant and helpful to journalists and we can present and write material they can use with a minimum of editing.
The media relations discipline is changing rapidly as it reshapes itself to make sense of the ever shifting landscape of free and paid for newspapers, online communications and the increasingly fragmenting nature of broadcast. All of this is changing the way journalists work and information is shared. Keeping abreast of this is a vital part of the work we do.
