Bramdean

Sir Derek Higgs   29/04/2008

It is profound sadness that Bramdean has learned of the death of our Chairman, Sir Derek Higgs.

Sir Derek was an inspiration to all of us here at Bramdean and to the many young financiers who he encouraged in their early careers. He was enormously popular, wise and well-respected. He made an exceptional contribution to the City of London, where he spent over thirty years of his distinguished career, as well as to the businesses he represented. His sudden death is a tragic loss to his family, friends and colleagues. We shall all miss him immensely.

Nicola Horlick, chief executive officer of Bramdean Asset Management LLP, gave this tribute: “Sir Derek has provided substantial support to me throughout my career. He had a rare ability to take an interest in everyone around him from the most junior arrival at a firm to its senior management. His wisdom, steady hand and unwavering sense of what is right has guided me continuously over the years and his advice was always sound and sensible. I never underestimated the privilege it was to count Sir Derek as one of my closest business associates as well as a great friend. He provided considerable support to me in his capacity as Chairman of Bramdean Asset Management LLP and words cannot express how much I will miss him. My deepest sympathy is extended to his wife, Julia, and their three children.”
